Navya, who was adopted by an Italian couple 37 years ago, is now searching for her own mother somewhere in Kerala. ‘Not to get angry, just to see, to hug, that’s all. Navya says.
The only thing Navya knows about her mother is this: Three and a half decades ago, Sophia, a 19-year-old girl, was abandoned in an orphanage in Kozhikode. “Mother will be 58 years old today. Grandmother’s name was Thankamma. I don’t know where they are. All I have in my hand are these names’-Navya told a media.
I don’t want to cause problems in my mother’s life. Navya said, I want to see my mother, I can’t miss her.
Navya was just two years old when her adoptive father Silvano Dorigatti and adoptive mother Tisiana Dorigatti adopted her. Today, she is the mother of two daughters aged six and three. Eldest daughter George. The second daughter’s name is Angelica. They live in the province of Trento, Italy.
Navya, who came to Italy as an adopted daughter, used to constantly send letters to Italy from the Kozhikode orphanage so that she would not feel a stranger. Later, when she grew up, Navya asked how there was a difference between the color of her white parents and hers. The Dorigati couple did not lie to their daughter but told her her whole story. Although her official name is Navya Dorigatti, she has changed her name to Navya Sophia Dorigatti by adding her mother’s name.
I wanted to see my mother that day. The last time she came to Kerala was 12 years ago. He did not go to Kozhikode that day. Went to Wayanad Vaithiri. Now that she was with his children, his desire to see his mother at least once became stronger. I think we will find a way,’ said Navya
